Four Tips To Maximize Your Space

Four Tips To Maximize Your SpaceThere are so many benefits to apartment living, but having a lot of space is not always one of them. So when you live in an apartment, taking advantage of every inch of space is really important. Even if you are in a three-bedroom apartment, you may still find yourself running out of room. In order for you to get the most out of your space, here are four great tips to ensure you are maximizing your space:

1.    Declutter: Decluttering is the most important thing you can do to maximize your space in an apartment. Decluttering is a combination of downsizing the things you do not need and organizing the things you do need in a functional and attractive way. To get started, you’ll need to go room by room and really assess your belongings and make sure that everything you own is something you use. Then from there, you can begin looking at great storage solutions to keep your space feeling open and clean.

2.    Go Vertical: Since you can’t extend your space horizontally, the best way to maximize your space is to go up. Consider raising your bed, so you can store things underneath. Buy tall shelving units or hang shelves up high. There are tons of ideas on how to maximize your vertical space.

3.    Consider Multi-Functional Pieces: When buying furniture for your space, consider pieces that pull double duty. A couch that pulls out into a bed is a great option for overnight guests or studio apartments. Ottomans that double as storage containers, Dining tables that double as desks. The range of multifunctional pieces are endless and can really help you get the most out of your space.

4.    Hide Your Storage: One of the biggest things that make a space seem cramped and cluttered is open storage. There are tons of ways you can hide your storage around an apartment. Look around your space and see where you can tuck storage away. Is there space between your fridge and a wall? Could you put some storage behind your headboard? Is there an unused corner? All of these areas can be used to hide your storage and keep your apartment looking clean and organized.

Following these four tips will help you get the most out of any space. However, even with the best planning, you may sometimes simply need a larger space.
