It is exciting to begin the process of moving into your very first apartment. You are finally out on your own and have a space you can call home. But along with the excitement, you might find yourself stressed out and worried because you aren't entirely sure you have all the first apartment essentials you will need to survive in your new apartment.
We have compiled a list to make the move easier so you can enjoy your apartment rather than stressing over whether or not you have everything you need to survive your first week of independence.
The following is your first apartment checklist:
Mattress and Bedding
This is one of the most important pieces of furniture you have in the home and deserves its spot on the top of this list. After a long and tiring move, the last thing you want to do is have to crash on the floor of your new apartment. So, make sure you have your mattress and bedding in order right away for a comfortable first night sleep.
Every home needs a toolkit. Maybe you have furniture you had to take apart, and now it needs to be put back together, or there are other small odds and ends that need to be taken care of. A toolkit ensures that you are ready to conquer whatever home needs you have to conquer without dealing with the frustration of having to run to the store to pick up the tool or nails that you need.
This is probably one of the most overlooked items when it comes to a move because it is really seldom thought about. You don't want to have messy bathroom floors in your new apartment, right? Make sure you hang your shower curtain to protect your floors as you enjoy that much deserved hot shower after the move.
Another essential item you need right away is toilet paper. Make sure you purchase plenty ahead of your move, and you have it in its rightful place as soon as possible. This can probably even be done before everything else is moved in, so you are sure not to forget.
Finally, it is a new apartment, and sometimes you will find that there is dust in some overlooked spots that you want cleaned up as you move your stuff in. Make sure all your cleaning supplies are in easy reach so you can wipe away the messes as you see them. Multi-surface cleaning wipes, a Swiffer, toilet scrubber, and disinfectant spray are all good items to start with.
